Tafari's Memorial is tonight. I miss him so much and always wonder if there was something I could have done. Suicide is hard for everyone left behind. Mental health is important to maintain and ask for help with. For some, it may mean medication is needed to keep the darkest moments from appearing again. And stay on meds even if you feel better. Tafari Akivi Gonzalez-Aird my beloved son (he has a biological mother out there also) he decided (much against my insistence), he decided to go off the medication that stabilized and lifted his moods. He took them for a period of time thru out the years and then felt great shame in needing to take them. He felt he should be able to control his emotions on his own, that coupled with feeling better because he was on the meds...led him to decide to go off his medication. The low points were getting lower and the highs and lows were coming faster and faster with anger and wondering where he fit in life....even though he had family, dear friends, support and Dr.'s out there...his mind fooled him and he gave up. I love him so much, I can not pass judgment, nor talk him out of it, nor call 911 and stop it. It happened...it is Final, and so hard for all of us to accept. This has brought me to my knees in grief and sadness. He has such a good soul and loved so deeply, but also hurt so deeply. Rest in peace and love. You are always with us. We are better for having had you in our lives.

He will always be a bright shining star in our lives.
